Every new record from MLZ doesn’t quite fit in with the one that preceded it, something that’s doubly true for this new release. ‘One Cycle’ on the A-side is easily the most fierce, stripped and relentless thing ever released by Modern Love, a classic reduction built in homage to Rob Hood’s classic “Detroit: One Circle” that rotates into a frenzied crescendo of panning stabs and a washed out, chugging backbone that doesn’t let-up throughout its 7 minute duration. The flipside offers up something else entirely, a remix for hitherto unknown operator Dj Ghosthunter, a shady character not quite ready to unmask himself. MLZ’s remix offers a dank and obliterated House configuration, guided by the spirit of Theo Parrish and KDJ and aided by another line in impossibly deep and analogue low-end padding
